Jim Leahey is the Director of Sports Programming for KFVE-TV (K5 The Home Team). He joined the station in 1984. As The Voice of Rainbow Sports, Leahey calls the play-by-play action for all televised University of Hawaii sports events, including: football; men s and womens volleyball; mens and womens basketball; baseball; soccer; swimming; and softball. K5 produces approximately 120 sports broadcasts annually.

Leahey has been doing play-by-play broadcasting for over three decades. He was awarded Hawaii Sportscaster of the Year 19 times by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Prior to coming to K5, he was the sports director at KGMB-TV/CBS for six years. Before that, he was a teacher at James Campbell High School for 10 years.

Leahey graduated from St. Louis High School and continued his education at Chaminade University in Honolulu. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of San Francisco. Following his tour in the Navy, including a year in Vietnam with the Third Marine Division, Leahey received a Masters in Education from the University of Hawaii in 1970.

He and his wife Toni Leahey have three children, Kelly, Kathryn, and Kanoa, and one grandchild, Malia.
