Attended Kailua Elementary/High School and McKinley High School, Honolulu. I dropped out of school during my junior year to sail around the world on a boat I helped my father build, in our back yard! When that adventure fell through, we moved to San Jose California, where I graduated form Overfelt High School(!!). In 1964, I attended San Jose Junior College for one year, majoring in Law Enforcement. I Joined the Naval Reserve in 1965, and then went on active duty in Oct 1967. I enjoyed it so much, that I made it a career. I traveled throughout the Pacific, Europe and Mediterranean area during my career. My last assignment before retiring was at the Defense Information Systems Agency, Pacific (DISA PAC), Wheeler AAF, as a watch officer, then superintendent of the area operations center. I retired on Oct 31st, 1990, after 23 years of naval service, as a Master Chief (E-9) Radioman.
After retiring from the Navy, I worked for several government contractors in the field of telecommunications. Then, in 1996, I accepted a civil service position at the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station, Pacific (NCTAMS PAC) as the Circuit Actions Officer, responsible for activation, deactivation, installation and de-installation of telecommunications circuits, equipment and systems. In Jun 1999, I accepted a position as the Site Manager for a major Department of Defense message switching center. The center closed in 2004, but prior to it closing, I accepted a position as the Operations Chief for the DISA Enhanced Mobile Satellite Service (EMSS) Gateway. I'm currently the Operations Support/Force Protection Officer at the Gateway.
