Subject: Transit Corridor Project
Date Speaking: 5/1/08

Doug Carlson is a 35-year resident of Hawai`i, having moved here in 1973 after a 9-month winter in Chicago. He has worked in or with journalism the entire time since, first as a reporter for the Honolulu Advertiser and KGMB-TV, then as press secretary for Congressman Cecil Heftel, then as spokesman for Hawaiian Electric Company and - since 1993 - as a communications consultant in his own business. Doug is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunrise, which was formed in 1990, and served as the club's president in 1995-96. In the early 1990s, he worked with one of the five transit companies that bid on the Fasi Administration's fixed guideway transit project, and he has been a transit advocate ever since. Doug is with us today to brief our club on the status of the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project.
