Water Recycling and Reuse Solutions
Discussion will focus on current problems in Hawaii and new technology in wastewater treatment offered by WSI International that can help eliminate many of the problems we face today in Hawaii.
Water is our most precious resource. Every day we benefit from the environmental, public health, social, and economic benefits that clean and safe water provide. One of the most critical challenges facing Hawaii is how to sustain our water and wastewater infrastructure to ensure that we can continue to enjoy these benefits in the future.
Hawaii wastewater systems are aging, with some system components older than 80 years. Our growing and shifting population requires new infrastructure and maintenance of existing infrastructure. A lot of potable water goes for uses that don't require potable water such as golf courses.
WSI wastewater treatment systems provide Title 22, R-1 environmentally responsible and safe water supply for irrigation, industrial uses and environmental restoration. Increased use of recycled water can reduce the Hawaii's dependence on potable water supplies for non-drinking water
uses. In addition, water recycling can help with Clean Water Act compliance and meeting future State and EPA discharge regulations.
