Elizabeth (Betsy) Connors was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1942 and moved to Honolulu in 1977.
She attended high school in Brooklyn and then, St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing, Hunter College of the City of New York and New York University in New York City. Her major was in Nursing with a minor in Education.
Betsy was a clinical specialist in Head and Neck Surgery and then went on to be a nursing instructor first at St. Vincent's Hospital School, C.W. Post College, Long Island, New York and eventually joined the faculty at the University of Hawaii, Manoa in 1977.
From 1978-79 she was Nursing Curriculum Coordinator of the statewide nursing programs. Later she joined the faculty at Hawaii Loa College.
In 1980, Betsy joined the Lani- Kailua Outdoor Circle, drawn to the organization when she learned that it was the group responsible for eliminating the billboards from Honolulu. In between raising three daughters and a son, she stayed involved at different levels in the Outdoor Circle and today is President of the statewide organization of about 2500 members, with branches on all islands. Child advocacy is another interest and Betsy is currently a Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for the Family Court of Honolulu.
