Speaker: Ayman El-Dakhakhni
Subject: District Governor Visit
Date Speaking: 7/17/08

July 17th is District Governor Ayman El-Dahhakhni's official visit to our club. The board will meet him at 10am at Dots followed immediately by our meeting where he will be the program. He will be accompanied by his wife Joann.

District Governor Ayman El-Dakhakhni is a charter member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset. Ayman first began his Rotary experience with the Rotary Club of Waikiki in 1992 and then helped charter the Honolulu Sunset Club in 1995. He served as president of the Honolulu Sunset Club in 1997-1998. He is the CEO/President of VIP Transportation and holds the classification of Transportation.

Ayman was first introduced to Rotary as a young man in Alexandria, Egypt, through the "Young People Science Club". He received his engineering degree in Alexandria before emigrating to the United States.

He has received numerous awards for his service to Rotary including the Merit Award from the Waikiki Rotary Club in 1995. He served in many positions in his club and District 5000 including District Directory Coordinator, Aloha Parade Coordinator, International Service Chair, Polio Plus Chair, Membership Development Chair, and Transportation and Logistics Chair.

Ayman explains that he "became a Rotarian" while participating in a Polio Eradication National Immunization Day (NID) in Ethiopia with his daughter Amanda. While seeing the plight of those less fortunate through his daughter's eyes, he suddenly understood the real meaning of "Service Above Self."

His passion is playing, coaching, and watching soccer (football, really!)
